NPC Recruitment
Many of you might have seen the paring down of decorations in recent years and the elimination of skits. That is due to NPC's focus on values-based recruitment. What all is involved with this? Check out this Values-Based Recruitment Policy Clarification from NPC.
One important thing for you to know as your Chapter's CPH Delegate or as a CPH Officer, is the type of recruitment model or style employed by your CPH for primary recruitment.
Two definitions that are important to know ...
- PANHELLENIC TOTAL ... The maximum allowable chapter size for a campus. This is decided by vote of the CPH and is stated in the CPH Bylaws.
- QUOTA ... The maximum number of New Members a chapter may obtain through the designated formal recruitment period. Quota is not set until after the last invitational round. A chapter is always entitled to take Quota, even if in doing so they go over the campus PH Total!
There are three models set forth by NPC. Information on all of these can be found in the NPC Manual of Information in the Membership Recruitment Handbook.
Fully Structured Recruitment (FSR) ...
- Provides the most structure and formality of all the NPC models.
- The traditional "formal recruitment" with rounds of parties, PNM groups, etc.
- Quota is implemented as well as bid matching.
- Campus should be participating in the Release Figures Methodology (RFM).
Partially Structured Recruitment (PSR) ...
- Just a little less structure than FSR.
- Requires PNMs to attend at least one recruitment event of each sorority on campus.
- At least one round should be invitational.
- Panhellenic ensures that there are no schedule conflicts with the sororities' planned recruitment events,
- Date set by CPH by which bids must be issued,
- Quota is implemented as well as bid matching.
- Campus should be participating in the Release Figures Methodology (RFM).
Continuous Recruitment (CR) ...
- Generally for campuses with 2 or 3 groups.
- Chapters are free to hold recruitment events and issue bids.
- No Quota nor bid matching.
- Chapters recruit to campus' established PH Total.
One key thing to note ...
Regardless of the recruitment style used, a signed bid acceptance by the PNM must be filed with the campus' Fraternity/Sorority Life Office when a bid is accepted !!!!
- FSR and PSR: Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA)
- CR or during informal recruitment periods: Continuous Open Bidding Acceptance Binding Agreement
